BJP leaders attitude towards Jammu more harmful than natural calamities: Sham Lal

akhnoor, July 8: Senior Vice President and Former minister Sham Lal Sharma said due to recent thunderstorm and heavy rains, the houses of Akhnoor area has been heavily damaged and also damaged crops in the area resultantly the poor farmers have suffered massive losses.
Addressing Monthly Meeting of Block Congress Committee at Akhnoor, Sham also expressed his concern over the power and water supply which has been heavily affected due to thunderstorm has not been restores for the last 4 days in Akhnoor. He urged concerned do err apartments to undertake urgent repairs in war footing bases so that people may not face any further inconvenience. He also took Strong exception of the government for not taking the common man sufferings seriously.
Sham lambasted BJP-PDP govt. On passage of amendment of panchayti Raj act 1989.This amendment allows the election of sarpanches by panches instead of being elected directly. He termed this amendment as "Assassination of democracy". He said that this amendment will facilitate horse trading. He further said that this amendment will not only disempowered the panchayats but will also dilute their powers. The direct election of sarpanches holds them accountable to the people. He said BJP due to lust of power have completely forgotten the promises made during elections and have now started depriving the people of their basic rights.
On the issue of transfer of property bill Sham said that this bill is against the people of Jammu and demanded it's immediate withdrawal. By approving the said bill the BJP-PDP govt. has betrayed the peoples Mandate because the said bill is very much against the interest of people of Jammu region. He further said that if this Bill is passed, it will debar outsiders of J&k state to establish any industry in the state thereby it will affect the economy of the state and also stop the employment avenues to the local youth.
He said that bringing of this bill in assembly seems to be under the pressure of separatist. If this bill is passed it will snatch the Rights of people to sell their property as per their interest. Sham further said that the BJP which consider themselves as the champions of the Jammu region, have on various occasions said that it will abrogate Article -370 but with the passage of this bill, it will weaken their stand.
Former minister expressed his anguish over the release of stone pelters on the occasion of EID. He said that this Step will not only decrease the moral of security forces but will increase the incidents of stone pelting in coming days.
Sham also said that those who were arrested in Amarnath Land row in Jammu are still in custody and have not been released, which is a great injustice to the people of Jammu. "The BJP minister/Legislators have completely surrendered before PDP and have lacked the courage of conviction for lust of power.
Those who present on the occasion were Kuldeep Verma, Ram Swaroop, Sushma Choudhary, Subash Langer, Naresh Dutt, Raj Rani, Vijay Jamwaal, Aman Gupta, Askok Tinu, Sarpanches and Panches.
