JAMMU, July 8: Three motorcycle-borne drug peddlers were today apprehended by police along with 600 gms of poppy straw from near an ashram on Sidha Road in Kakryal area of the holy township of Katra.
Police sources said acting on a tip-off, cops of Kakryal police post intercepted a motorcycle (JK20/6829) near the Ashram and allegedly recovered 600 gms of poppy straw from its operator and two pillion riders.
The accused were then arrested and their mobike was seized, the sources added.
They were identified as Babu Khan, son of Abdul Gani of Kanyar, Hamid Khand, son of Babu Mohammad of Thareen and Sohan Singh, son of Krishan Singh of Dhamonot, Udhampur.
A case against them was registered at Katra police station under section 8/15 of NDPS Act. |
