| People left riled as Water Supply Scheme Agrathi goes defunct | | | Early Times Report
Rajouri, July 8: Most of the Water Supply Schemes in Rajouri district either have become defunct or non-existent due to careless approach by the concerned officials and one of the glaring examples is Agrathi Water Scheme which is lying defunct which is forcing people to demonstrate.
According to agitated locals, the Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department has constructed two Water storages tank at different locations in the year of 2004 and it proved extra burden on government exchequer as was just aimed to withdraw money by some vested interest elements.
"Ironically there is no supply of water till date," Agrathi locals alleged and added, "the project of PHE department again failed in lower Agrathi in which a Bore Well was dug in 2012 but the same was abandoned without any reasons.
Local who feel agitated over abandoning of project in halfway even called on the then MLA to seek his intervention but all in vain.
Agrathi locals told 'Early Times' that lack of water is affecting their normal life. They said that in absence of the sufficient water supply their life has turned bad to worse in scorching hot days. People also demanded action against the concerned officials for not restoring water supply in the area. |
