Sasan assails PDP-BJP for misleading facts on setting up of Minority Commission

JAMMU July 8: Provincial Vice President National Conference Jammu, Mr Gurdeep Singh Sasan on Thursday criticised Minister for Social Welfare Sajjad Ahmed Lone for his distorted and misleading statement regarding setting up of Minority Commission in Jammu and Kashmir, saying this is an attempt to divide the people on communal lines.
Interacting with a deputation of Sainik Colony, Sasan said that the minister is giving twist to the factual position on minority status of the people in Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh, saying this is against the spirit of the secular character of the state. He said the National Commission on Minority Act 192 is not applicable in J and K state due to its special status, which deprives the minorities of their rights. He said whenever minority status is granted to minorities, it is based on state level religion , population ratio and not on the basis of block or district level .He said that the Sikhs are microscopic community in the state which deserves minority status. He cautioned the people to understand the nefarious designs of PDP-BJP alliances and foil its sinister design of dividing people on communal and regional basis to fulfill their nefarious agenda.
He also lambasted the state government for giving step-motherly treatment to POK refugees, saying that by announcing distribution of Rs 5.50 lakhs per family is a cruel joke with this hapless community. He flayed the coalition for playing with the sentiments of refugees who feel cheated . He said that this community is the victim of 1947 partition. He also criticised the government for clubbing internal displaced person with POK refugees.
he appealed to the Centre to accept the package of Rs 25 lacs per family for POK refugees as recommended by Omar Abdullah former Chief Minister he expressed concern over the amendment in Panchayati Raj Act saying this will disempower the people at grass roots level. He also sought regularisation of 61000 daily waters. Prominent among those present incuded, Hardev Singh, Capt. P P Singh, Nain Singh, Gagandeep Singh, Rakesh Sharma, Col. Sarbjeet Singh, Joginder Parkash, Baldev Singh and others.
