Early Times Report

Jammu, July 8: Several organizations of PoJK DPs today held a joint meeting at Gandhi Nagar in which the leaders participated in it, highlights their demands.
According to press release, they demanded that the government should clarify the nature; shape and status of Rs. 2000 crore package which has been announced without any road map which is missing all the other components.
We have failed to understand whether this amount is a part of Rs. 9096 crore package submitted by Omar Abdullah Govt. on 20/10/2014 or is a part of cash relief of Rs. 30 lacs each DP family recommended by Joint Parliamentary Committee on Home Affairs needs clarification.
They further condemned the statement issued by Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti that West Pakistan Refugees will be given Rs. 5.5 Lakh as a relief and cheques after Eid but later on a clarification came from a spokesperson of government that WP Refugees have been inadvertently crop up and the package is only for DP's of 1947, 65 and 71 DP's.
During meeting DP's leaders expressed their serious concern about the statement which has created chaos and confusion among the DP's and criticized the government for adopting non-serious attitude and approach towards this legitimate human issue awaiting its resolution from last 68 years.
They warned government that while fixing the quantum of relief the figures of 31,619 families of POK including 5300 families settled outside the state be taken into account in totality.
The bifurcation of the families will create impediments for the disbursal of the package and moreover it may invite unnecessary litigation which would not be in the interest of government as well as DP's of all the categories.
They urged upon government to spell out the details of the package to end the chaos and confusion among DP's and honour their commitment made in Common Minimum Program to resolve the issue in totality.
Jagdish Raj Sharma, Krishan Lal Khajuria from Rajouri District and D.P Lobana and Choudhary Rishi Path of District Kathua were also present during meeting.
