After 13 years of up-gradation, GHS Govindsar still sans Masters | Hollow claims of Education Deptt | | GS Asgotra Early Times Report Jammu, July 8: The phrase, "Much boast little roast", seems fit for functioning of education department, which has been upgrading the schools but failed to provide requisite manpower and facilities under the guidelines of government for various types of schools. On one hand the incumbent Education Minister, Neam Akther has been boasting of rationalizing student teacher ratio in government school but on the other, the department has virtually failed to depute masters in Government High School, Govindsar despite the fact that school was upgraded in 2003. Source in department said that the school was upgraded from Middle School to High School in the year 2003 but so far only teachers have been running the school and the department concerned has failed to depute even single Master in the school. "Though during up-gradation of the school, the Education Department had sanctioned three posts of Masters in the High School, Govindsar but ironically after lapse of 13 years, the same department has failed to make any arrangement for deputing Masters in the upgraded school", said a teacher pleading anonymity. He further said that the school has a total strength of 350 students including students of class 10th but the teachers, deputed in the school have been running the show in absence of Masters. "Only eight teachers are deputed in the school for nearly 350 students enrolled out of which one teacher is attached", an official said, adding that despite repeated demands by the successive headmasters deputed in the school for the Masters but all in vain. An official said that on one hand government has been demanding 100 percent pass percentage of students studying in the tenth class and has been withholding the increment of the teachers, who failed to give good results but on the other it failed to post required staff in the upgraded schools. "The school is nearly three kilometers from district headquarter Kathua and one can easily guess the condition of schools in hilly areas or far flung areas of districts", an official said. |
