Poor family being harassed as Police, Revenue deptt work at dictates of land mafia 7/24/2016 11:23:38 PM Early Times Report Jammu, July 24: Dalit family hailing from ward No.13 tehsil Hiranagar is continuously being harassed by an influential retired government officer who has allegedly encroached 7 kanal and 11 Marlas agricultural land of one Ashok Kumar S/o Surjit Kumar and the encroacher is getting full support of a Naib Tehsildar and Police administration. Vimla Devi w/o Ashok Kumar alleged that the said retired officer encroached the land, smashed the fencing and beat her husband before Tehsildar and Suresh Kumar Naib-Tehsildar of the Panchayat halqa. She alleged that Naib Tehsilar tampered revenue records of poor people to extend undue benefits to influential people in exchange for money and SDM and Tehsildar Hiranagar back their subordinate in shady deeds. She also alleged that while the encroacher abused her in front of police and civil officers, no one dared to stop him. Som Raj Majotra, State Vice- President BSP staged a protest demonstration wherein protesters from dalit Community protested against encroachment under the nose of Police and revenue officers. Majotra said deputations called on SDM Hiranagar to seek justice but no action has been taken in this regard. He demanded security for dalit community and eviction of encroacher from the land in question. DDC when asked about the issue, informed that Article 144 had been imposed and action would be taken soon to handover the land to actual owner.
