Early Times Report

JAMMU, July 24: The multi prolnged approach adopted by state as well as Union government to contain the cross border infiltration and terrorist related activities in state have so far proved ineffective, as far as current year is concerned so far, as both these activities have recorded huge increase so far.
Though the seventh month of current year is running and the data compiled by Home Ministry is for the six months but the figures compiled are a sign of worry for security establishments.
Till June 30, this year, a total of 90 attempts of cross border infiltration were made by infiltrators, out of which 10 were reportedly killed while 26 were pushed back by security forces and a large number that was 54 infiltrators succeeded.
Surprisingly, the year 2015 was found most successful for the security forces as only 29 attempts were made and 15 infiltrators were killed and 9 were pushed back and only 5 had infiltrated to Jammu and Kashmir while in the year 2013, a total of 47 attempts were made out of which 10 were successful while five were killed and 32 were pushed back.
Though the Union as well as state government has been claiming of working in tandem and adopted multi prolonged approach including strengthening of border management and multi-tiered deployment along the International Border / Line of Control, and near the ever changing infiltration routes, construction/maintenance of border fencing, construction of culverts/ bridges on nullahs, improved technology, weapons and equipments for SFs, improved intelligence and operational coordination, installation of border floodlight on the International Border (IB) and synergizing intelligence flow to check infiltration and pro-active action against terrorists within the stat but these efforts are seemingly failed to give desire results for security forces. Moreover on account of terrorist activities, the current year is again disturbing for security forces as so far till 10th of July, 2016, a total of 138 incidents were reported, killing 4 civilians and 29 security forces besides injuring 10 civilians and 77 security forces. In the year 2015, a total of 208 terrorist incidents were reported killing 17 civilians and 39 security forces while injuring 70 civilians and 103 security forces.
