Jammu, July 24: A sub-Inspector posted in one of the police stations of Jammu city is allegedly under scanner of senior police officer after he purportedly stole Rs 3 lakh from the room of a gangster who was arrested few days ago. However, inquiry has also been initiated by a senior police officer against the Sub-Inspector for allegedly stealing Rs 3 lakh from room of an arrested gangster by a Sub-Inspector. If sources are to be believed, the incident took place few days ago after a notorious gangster was arrested by police following which the concerned police raided a rented room of the gangster but nothing could be recovered from the room. Meanwhile, a SI, who is posted in another police station and had information about another rented room of the gangster, raided his room without informing his seniors. The SI had allegedly ‘stolen’ Rs 3 lakh from the room along with some other items including key of a WagonR car which was later seized by Bakshi Nagar police from Shopping Centre area and a pistol along with five rounds was also recovered from the car while other associates of the gangster are absconding. Sources claimed that as soon as senior police officers came to know about the incident that a Sub-Inspector illegally raided a room which was being shared by some notorious youth including an arrested gangster and he recovered Rs 3 lakh along with other items from the room they took cognizance of the incident and ordered probe. “The SI nor informed the seniors about the recovery of Rs 3 lakh nor he seized the money”, said a source who further added that following this an inquiry was initiated against the Sub-Inspector to finds the facts. |
