Virasat-e-Khalsa holds meeting, highlights several demands | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, July 24: A meeting was organized by Virasat-e-Khalsa which was attended by various organizations. The meeting was held under the presidium of Sukhbir Singh President Virasat-e-Khalsa, Mohan Singh Baghi, (Advisor) and Comrade Sukhdev Singh, Convener, Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Chowk Coordination Committee. While briefing Sukhbir Singh President of the Organization said that we are on the job and have saved records of Gurudwaras. He further said that the Sikh Community has a great history and the Sikh warrior fought many battles against cruelty of the rulers in favour of truth, justice and sacrificed lives for the sake of religion and country. The participants demanded that on the occasion of 300th Shahidi Divas of Banda Singh ji Bahadur the J&K Government should announce the name of Kunjwani Chowk as Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Chowk and his statue be installed there. The participants in the meeting appealed that the Jamrud Fort besides Bab-e-Khyber at the entrance to the Khyber Pass in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) of Pakistan be saved and in this context the Government of India should take up the matter with the Pakistan Government to save this Fort and allow sangat from India to visit the place. They also demanded that in the memory of General Bikram Singh, a piece of land near Kala Kendra be allotted to the Sikh Community so that a function as per the Gurmat Rehat Maryada could be organized annually. The meeting also demanded declaration of Gurdwara Guru Nanak Dev Jee Chand Nagar as historical place besides few other demands were also projected. |
