Let National Conference play a constructive role | | | Though the BJP does not have valid evidence against the National Conference still it has blamed the main opposition NC for stoking fire in the Kashmir valley. Well the National Conference leadership had pooh-poohed these allegations claiming that its workers carried the injured to the hospitals failing which the death toll could have crossed 50.But the way the National Conference described the recent All Party Meet, convened by Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti, in Srinagar as "guilt induced" hogwash of the PDP. This is a serious aspersion on the woof the coalition Government. When during the NC led coalition Government 120 people were killed during five-month long agitation what did the then Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah did? He has simply announced recently that Mehbooba should not go into hibernation as he did which was his mistake in 2010. The National Conference leadership has virtually blamed the PDP for having failed to restore order. This sermon should not have been given by the NC which had failed to restore normalcy to Kashmir in 2010. The opposition party has justified its boycott of the All Party meet and its leadership has described the boycott the 'right thing', Again the NC leadership had accused the coalition Government in general and the PDP in particular of non seriousness and arrogance because neither did the CM have any concrete plan to offer in the 'all party' nor felt the need to visit the hospitals where young boys are battling for their life. "We had already said that this meet was a futile exercise since the credibility of this government's leadership is in question," he added. "What was the efficacy of this meeting which couldn't even recommend lifting curfew, restarting mobile phones, visiting hospitals, or even ordering stopping usage of pellet guns" he said. "Some concrete steps like restraint and immediate assistance to hospitals need to be taken instead of referring or passing everything to Delhi" the NC spokesperson said. Reacting to the Home Minister Rajnath Singh's statement that he would establish direct communication with the people of Kashmir, especially the youth, the NC spokesman said that in the absence of a concrete plan the statement lacks conviction, nothing was said by the HM that would seethe the anger on the ground and unless and until Kashmir issue is not seen as a political issue and addressed politically. Instead of blaming the coalition Government for the ills that has swept the valley as a result of violence the opposition party should have assisted the PDP in restoring peace to Kashmir. Yes, as an opposition party the duty of the opposition is not to play a destructive role but a constructive one by helping the Government in restoring peace. But the NC played its negative role believing that the fall of the coalition Government could open the doors for the NC to return to power after the next Assembly election which otherwise is due in 2020.But if the state is placed under the central rule early election could be the possibility and in that NC and the Congress have better chances to regain power.Till then the NC should play a constructive role. BJP should know it that Pakistan and its agents like separatists, are responsible for turmoil and killings in Kashmir. |
