Assess damages, compensate affected families: PDP | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Aug 7: Expressing his grave concern over damages caused to the public property in different wards of Jammu West assembly segment due to incessant rains, zone president of People's Democratic Party (PDP) Jammu West Puneet Singh Jamwal urged the district administration including revenue authorities and Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) to immediate assess losses and compensate affected families. He also urged upon the Public Works Department (PWD) authorities to identify road faults at this time to mark areas that remain water logged during rainy season so that necessary repair works could be carried out during dry season. Going by the principles of giving people good and effective administration, Puneet Singh Jamwal said these are the testing times and authorities must come up to the expectations of people. Walls of some of the houses have collapsed in Top Sherkhania area and several other houses are facing threats due to continuing rains. He informed that damaged roads and electric poles too are giving people tough time which must be repaired on war footings. The revenue authorities meantime must assess losses and compensate people on priority basis so that they don't face any hardships in days to come. As already directed by the irrigation and flood control authorities, Puneet Singh Jamwal urged common masses to stay away from water bodies especially canal that passing by Jammu West assembly segment to avoid any untoward incidence. He said that since water level in all rivers and streams is flowing above the danger level, people must listen to the authorities and avoid going near them for their own safety. During his tour of affected wards of Jammu West, the PDP leader asked his ward presidents and workers to stay alive to people's issues and ensure safety of people. |
