Kashmir turmoil crosses Jawahar tunnel | | | Raj Sandeep
Early Times Report
Jammu, Aug 7: The failure of government to contain unrest in Kashmir Valley can be gauged from the fact that after lapse of nearly one month, BJP government at the centre seems clueless as to how to surmount the deteriorating situation in Kashmir. While talking to Early Times, Muneer Hussein from Doda expressed dismay over the nonseriousness of the government. According to him , why various authorities of State and central government failed to anticipate the impending gruesome consequences which took toll of over 57 young persons with several hundred left injured. He said that mishandling of Kashmir situation and lack of concern shown by BJP government has allowed the grim situation to swiftly slip from its hands crossing over and raising its ugly head in Chinab valley with people in Banihal, Kishtwar, Bhaderwah, Doda, Rajouri now getting involved in the melee of restlessness. Questioning the efficiency and effectiveness of government, he said that were the authorities waiting for such an eventuality to crop up and destabilize peace and tranquilly in this part of the State as well, he bemoaned. A well acclaimed Urdu writer, Khalid Hussain giving vent to his anger informed Early Times that it is not the time to issue cosmetic statements but to act with firm determination to touch and trace out the root cause which has led to involve youth of Kashmir en masse to challenge the authority of the government even at the cost of their lives. Criticizing the Union Home Minister, Rajnath Singh of his recent visit to Kashmir, he said that does the minister expect that by sitting in the Governor house in Srinagar and meeting few people of Kashmir can ever mollify the crippled sentiments of large number of kashmiris. No, not at all, he asserted. Lambasting the BJP government for beating about the bush and treading the dangerous path of crushing the anger of people with force and later on applying healing touch of providing them compensation on account of death and destruction, Khalid said that such a long drawn policy having remained a part and parcel of successive governments will never succeed unless a well devised mechanism is put in place to reach out the genuinely aggrieved people in Kashmir, whose children have died, got maimed and seriously injured during this ongoing turmoil. Taking a dig at the elected representatives of the people in the state, Ramshwer Manhas pointed out that the required role of these so called legislators is awfully missing in the present situation with many belonging to valley have gone down in deep slumber confining them in the four walls of their houses leaving their voters in the lurch. On the other hands, BJP ministers and legislators of Jammu occupied themselves in some inaugurations and watching singing and dance functions,he said, adding that it is obviously the joint responsibility of both PDP and BJP MLAs to come out and establish people to people contact with those who are the real victims of heinous agenda of separatists and their masters across the borders. Commenting on the recent statement of BJP Minister of State in PM's office, Jameel Ahmed Chowdhary of Rajouri said that there is no need to reiterate ritual statements blaming Pakistan every now and then. What is concrete in their kitty to bring normalcy in Kashmir and other parts of the state is not being divulged despite heavy devastation in valley. He rued that they believe only in hollow slogans of good days to dawn and asked that can good days come in the state by dispatching more companies of para military forces ostensibly to fight with their own people as emanating in media reports quoting Union MOS. Zahoor Ahmed of Kashmir said that there should be lot of difference between the wisdom of general public and wisdom of the government with the latter having paraphernalia of intelligent think tank at its command to search out the middle path for bringing normalcy in the valley. He said that using force and pelting stones will continue but the common masses are the worst sufferers under the given circumstances. He added that the government should involve and take into confidence members of civil society of Kashmir and Jammu alongwith all stakeholders of the state so that instead of goli ( bullet), boli (dialague) should supersede goli which can help prevent unrest to further extend its tentacles in other part of the state in the larger interest of peace and prosperity of the state. |
