Chattisgarh Police arrest Kashmiri man, JK Police in slumber | Anti-India post on Facebook | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Aug 7: While police in Chattisgarh have arrested a youth from Kashmir on charges of sedition for posting "anti-India" content on his Facebook account, police in J&K are in no mood to stop posting of such messages on social networking sites and chanting of anti-country slogans. Tauseef Ahmad Bhat, from north Kashmir has been working in Bhilai in Chattisgarh, commented on, liked and shared several things against India on Facebook, such as 'India Go Back'. The inspector general of police Dipanshu Kabra, from Durg district in Bhilai had said that they arrested Bhat on Thursdaynight at Sagar Railway Station in Madhya Pradesh. Bhat was on board the Jammu-Tiwari Express which runs from Durg to Kashmir. According to news report he was booked under section 124 (a) of IPC (sedition), which defines the offence as as "whoever, by words, either spoken or written, or by signs, or by visible representation, or otherwise, brings or attempts to bring into hatred or contempt, or excites or attempts to excite disaffection towards, the government established by law inIndia". But in Kashmir, the police is in no mood of arresting such people who are openly posting anti-India messages. "The situation is completely different in Kashmir than other parts of the country. So far there is no information that any one has been arrested in Kashmir for posting anti-country messages on social networking sites during the ongoing crisis," a seniorpolice official said. However, he said over 500 people have been arrested for creating law and order problem and resorting to arson for the last one month. The official said police was ascertaining the details of the damaged property during the ongoing unrest in the Valley. He said cases are being registered under Sections 148 (rioting), 427 (mischief), 336 (endangering life of others). "So far, mostly FIRs have been registered under sections 436 and 427 RPC for destroying public property during the ongoing unrest in Kashmir," he said. Police have registered 4400 rioting cases in Jammu and Kashmir for the last three years with 1714 cases in 2013, 1524 and 1157 in 2014 and 2015 respectively. "Most of the rioting cases were registered when people were holding anti-India protests in the Valley and resorting to stone pelting," the police official said. A riot is a form of civil disorder commonly characterized by a group lashing out in a violent public disturbance against authority, property or people. Riots involve vandalism and the destruction of property, public or private. |
