UMEED declares 22 VOs as self sustainable in Chenani 8/7/2016 10:33:16 PM Early Times Report Jammu, Aug 7: Jammu and Kashmir State Rural Livelihoods Mission (UMEED) has declared 22 Village Organizations (VOs) as Self Sustainable in Resource Block Chenani of Udhampur district. These Village Organizations will continue to cater the micro financial needs of Self Help Groups and will manage their administrative cost of earnings on inter loaning. The Presidents and other functionaries of these Self Sustained Village Organizations were felicitated at a function held at UMEED's Block Training Centre Chenani in Udhampur district today. Complimenting the functionaries of Organizations, the Additional Mission Director, JKSRLM (UMEED) Jammu, Kapil Sharma highlighted the role of UMEED programme for the socio-economic transformation of rural poor women folk. He said that basic aim of the programme is to reduce poverty by enabling the poor household to access gainful self employment through building strong and sustainable grassroot institutions for the poor. District Project Manager, Dr. Jagdish Mehra while speaking on the occasion briefed about the various initiatives under different schemes for the benefit of SHGs at district level. As a part of skill development, a live demonstration of fruit and vegetables preservation was also organised for members of SHGs wherein District Subject Matter Specialist from Horticulture Deptt. Udhampur, Bhalabh Gupta educated the women about the importance of fruits and vegetables in standard health status.State Anchor Person, Katakam Suresh, Block Program Manager, Mr. Javaid Mir and block level functionaries of UMEED were also present.   Share This News with Your Friends on Social Network     Comment on this Story
