| Harni residents rile over scarcity of water for over a month | | |  M S Nazki

Harni (Poonch) Aug 18: Alleging non availability of basic amenities including drinking water, the residents of Harni village of Mendhar and its surrounding hamlets are suffering due to the acute shortage of drinking water for the last one month.
The residents of Harni and some half a dozen Morhas (Mohallas) are suffering badly due to failure of PHE water supply.
The locals alleged that Water Pumping Station at the village went out of order about four weeks ago since then the concerned PHE authorities have failed to get it repaired and restore the water supply to the areas fed by this Water Pumping Station. "Despite the matter was brought to the notice of concerned JE, AE and even the AEE PHE Mendhar, they said, lamenting, "but they have not taken this matter seriously."
While locals are managing the problems at their own, locals resented and added, "the public is badly suffering but department has not initiated to opt for any alternate system for water supply in the area. "In the absence of the water supply, the people are now left with no option but to fetch water from few local sources after covering long distance, locals lamented. |
