Kashmir unrest: BJP, PDP on different pages | | | Early Times Report jammu, Aug 18: A few leaders of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have reportedly taken a serious note of the "provocative statements" and speeches of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders and they (PDP leaders) have asked their friends in New Delhi to ask BJP's JK unit to remain silent till the situation improves in Kashmir. Sources told Early Times that PDP leaders are upset with their coalition partner acting as a mute spectator to the present unrest in Kashmir. "It's unfortunate that BJP leaders have not even made an attempt to douse the flames in Kashmir and are trying to add fuel to the fire," sources quoted one of the PDP leaders as having said. Sources said that a few BJP leaders delivering fiery speeches and claiming that they would hoist the national tricolor in Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) on next Independence-Day has created ripples in the PDP camp. "BJP leaders should concentrate on their constituency in Jammu rather than poking their nose into the matters which don't fall within their domain," said a PDP leader. He said, "BJP leaders and ministers seem to have forgotten that they have to face the electorate after a few years again and if they fail to fulfill the promises which they had made to the people during the election campaign people would reject them. They are busy enjoying the fruits of power and have forgotten that people had elected them for mitigating their sufferings." Insiders claimed that party high command has told the BJP leaders to ensure that they follow the party's line and should not make any attempt to appease their friends in Kashmir as for BJP Jammu and Kashmir is country's integral part and no power on earth can snatch it from India. "The state unit leaders of BJP have been told in clear terms to concentrate on their jobs and reach out to the people as the present unrest in Kashmir has provided them with a chance to restore their lost credibility." they added. The BJP sources said, "The present unrest in Kashmir has turned the Kashmir unit defunct as many BJP leaders from Kashmir have taken refuge in Jammu and Delhi. Despite BJP high command asking them to remain stationed in Kashmir they have moved out and are enjoying life." An analyst while talking to Early Times said, "Kashmir unit of BJP has turned out to be a white elephant for the party. Despite party high command investing a lot in Kashmir it has got nothing in return." |
