'Nakhralu' mantri finally surrenders before PDP | Jithay di khoti........... | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Aug 18: A minister who was not satisfied with ministry assigned to him by the Peoples Democratic Party led government and often stayed away from the office under protest has finally surrendered before the PDP leadership amid the ongoing unrest in Kashmir. Sources said the minister, who happens to be separatist-leader-turned mainstream politician running his individual party, improved his ties with the PDP leadership including Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti and government spokesman Naeem Akhter lest he gets alienated from the ruling coalition in the hour of crisis when Kashmir is witnessing unrest since July 8 when militant commander Burhan Muzaffar Wani and his two associates were killed. Sources said the minister recently called on Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti at her Fairview residence and apprised her about the problems "people confront in bearing with stone pelters who have taken the streets of Kashmir hostage." The meeting concluded cordially. Sources said the minister who would otherwise stay away from PDP, curiously shared an incident that how a businessman friend of his, who is also believed to be his business partner was roughed up by stone pelting kids. The minister said the protesting kids had stopped the businessman driving down a Srinagar road in his sedan. After getting to see the swanky car, the kids had interacted with each other in stammering voice. "Phutu Laivu Dalas Gaidh(Just smash his car)" the kids had cutely told. Within seconds there came a shocker. The car windscreens were smashed down to pieces by the little protesters. The businessman had instantly rushed to his minister friend, who subsequently shared the anecdote with the Chief Minister. Sources said Chief Minister was so touched by the story that she incorporated a part of the incident in her Independence Day speech at Bakshi Stadium. The Chief Minister made particular mention of this minister in her speech. Sources said it was a deliberate move to show to the outside world that he has joined hands with the PDP and was finally behaving like a "good boy." This former separatist leader otherwise often had strained relations with the PDP. Last year his name was initially dropped from the list of ministers. At the eleventh hour, he was finally sworn in on the personal intervention of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who as per insiders, "got him adjusted out of BJP quota" for the council of ministers. The PDP, as per insiders was not willing to take him onboard. Subsequently when Modi visited Kashmir, this minister was not given a chance to speak on the occasion. In the second innings of the PDP-BJP alliance this minister had "boycotted" his office for over a month complaining that he was not given a "good ministry" and that he "wanted to part ways with the government." Some of the PDP leaders in the past had termed him hooligan. "However, now he is behaving like a good boy," said a PDP insider. Sources said another minister whose family runs automobile business is Kashmir had lobbied for this minister to improve ties with the PDP leadership. Sources said the minister had started to feel lonely and thus improved ties with the ruling party. "May be he understood that unity is strength, or he will be left out all alone." |
