Digvijay calls J&K ' Indian occupied Kashmir' | Speaks Pakistani language | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Aug 18: AICC general secretary and "political Guru" of Rahul Gandhi, Digvijay Singh on Thursday committed a grave blunder and evoked a very strong reaction from across the nation. Talking to news channel AajTak, Digvijay Singh described Jammu and Kashmir State as "Indian-occupied-Kashmir". Digvijay committed three blunders. One, he gave an impression that he endorsed the Pakistani view that Jammu and Kashmir is an unfinished agenda of partition and that even this part of the state, according to the Congress, is "Indian occupied Kashmir". Two, he gave a long stick to Kashmiri separatists and others in Kashmir like Omar Abdullah to beat India with from right and left. They will now quote Digvijay day in and day out to make their anti-India point. Three, he called Jammu and Kashmir State "Kashmir" state, which it is not. By terming Jammu and Kashmir State "Kashmir" state, Digvijay Singh outraged the sensitivities of the people of Jammu and Ladakh, all non-Kashmiri and all against the demands being put forth by Kashmiri separatists and other leaders in the Valley. It's true that later on he clarified his position after bring snubbed by many, but he did it after doing the damage. He is not a fool. He is one man in the Congress who never relents and, hence, his clarification under pressure carries no weight. He spoke what was in his mind and he indicated the side he was. A day before, Digvijay Singh had also made another ridiculous statement: Raising anti-India and pro-azadi slogans was not a sedition and asked the Karnataka Government not to book those who chanted anti-India slogans. That the Congress didn't take action against him on Wednesday for what he said about the Bangalore anti-India event and that he was allowed to go scot-free today after what he said about the political status of Jammu and Kashmir only suggests that he enjoys the backing of the Congress high command. |
