Oil Tankers strike affects normal life | | | Tahir Mushtaq Early Times Report
Ramban, Aug 22: People across the district Ramban suffered due to unavailability of petrol and other liquid fuels as the Oil Tankers Association went on strike from past two days. With the past 45 days unrest in the valley, people in Jammu region were also affected as the tankers association alleging attacks on their vehicles in Kashmir by stone pelting mobs gave an indefinite strike call across Jammu region including district Ramban and other parts of Jammu region crippling normal life. "We are facing difficulties due to scarcity of petrol and diesel as we are not getting petrol from any petrol pump as the pumps are dry" said Firdous Ahmed an auto driver. Oil Tankers strike also affects the shortage of daily essential commodities besides affecting routine work of schools and offices. Most of the auto rikshaw/cabs and school buses remained off the roads owing the unavailability of petrol and diesel. Long queues of vehicles on petrol pumps across district Ramban were seen since yesterday. The local residents said that they have been facing huge problem due to the strike. |
