DDC stresses on indigenous water filter techniques | | | Early Times Report RAMBAN, Sep 1: Indigenous water filter techniques should be incorporated to provide clean drinking water especially in the rural areas where people are dependent on local water resources and every possible effort be made by the field staff to supply dirt-free water in all habitations. This was instructed by District Development Commissioner Mohammad Aijaz while reviewing the progress of various water supply schemes in a meeting with the officers and engineers of PHE and Irrigation sector here today. It was informed that 72 water supply schemes are in progress under the components like LIC, NABARD and National Rural Drinking Water Programme (NRWDP) in the entire district and Sarachi-Odka water supply scheme under NRDWP completed recently at an estimated cost of 163.19 lakhs shall benefit 2500 souls of habitations-New Sarachi, Old Sarachai and Hajam Pura. Further, It was disclosed by the XEN PHE that five pump rooms and 2 Groud Storage Reservoirs (GSR) are being at raised at Gool where the bore wells have already been dug. In addition to this, three filter plants carrying capacity of 5000 gallons each shall be elevated at Batyari and Banihal including one for Ramban town with the storing capacity of 15000 gallons. |
