| RTI exposes nexus between transporters, traffic regulatory agencies | | Of 122 mini-buses operating from Jewel Chowk, only 13 have valid permits | |  Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 1: Nexus between private transporters and government agencies implementing traffic regulations stands exposed after official figures revealed that only 13 mini-buses of various destinations along Akhnoor road and its peripheries connecting to Jewel Chowk possess valid route permits. Astoundingly, 122 mini-buses are plying via Jewel Chowk area without a valid route permit, creating chaos at canal road.
Reply of an RTI in possession of Early Times revealed that 122 mini buses are plying on various routes of Mishriwala to Janipur, Muthi to Bahufort, Bantalab to Smailpur, Muthi Migrant camp to Bahufort, etc while only 13 are entitled to ply via Jewel area.
There is a caucus operating within the traffic regulating agencies, minibus operators of the Mishriwala to Janipur, Muthi to Bahufort, Bantalab to Smailpur, Muthi Migrant camp to Bahufort, etc which has its own agenda of induction through favor and bias thereby completely disregarding the traffic rules, route allotted, norms of the public transport at Jewel Chowk Jammu which led to the 24x7 traffic jam at Jewel Chowk to canal road Jammu.
Operators of mini-buses are not following the route permit issued by the RTO office because of their personal benefits which leads to the daily jam at Jewel Chowk Jammu. Most of the minibus operators on't follow the route allotted to them and have illegally turned jewel chowk into illegal mini bus stand.
Sources allege that the unholy nexus between traffic police, RTO office, local concern police administration and minibus operators has allowed such a large number of mini buses to operate on route along Jewel Chowk Canal road, Guest House and Circuit House making the entire route a traffic mad house. |
