Separatists avoid Rajnath in Srinagar, fly to Delhi to meet ministers! | Double standards exposed | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Sept 1: What could be termed as double standards of separatists and their sympathisers, many people who refused to meet Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh in Srinagar are making beeline for meeting central ministers and other people who are considered close to the BJP. During Rajnath Singh's visit to the Valley many trade body and self-stylist religious groups refused to meet him on the diktats of separatists. But many people who are heading religious groups or close to separatists or militants have gone to New Delhi to meet Union ministers. Maulana Ghulam Rasool Hami, chairman Tehreek Karwani Islami, according to reliable sources met Rajnath in New Delhi. He has also met the spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravi Shankar. Hami is a sympathizer of separatists and has been closely associated with JKLF chairman Yasin Malik. "These people are speaking in two languages. In Kashmir they speak in one language, then go to New Delhi and meet union ministers," a top functionary of the government said. "They stay in official guest houses in Delhi." Sources said people who are part of two religious groups had also met Rajnath in New Delhi and gave some suggestions about defusing the crises in Kashmir. Recently, Muzaffar Wani, father of slain Hizbul Mujahideen militant Burhan Wani, also met Sri Sri Ravi Shankar at the Art of Living Ashram in Bangalore. There are some reports that he too met some union ministers in New Delhi and was in touch with government representatives. "I did not stay in a hotel as I did not find it safe. I stayed at the ashram," Muzaffar has said. Sources said these meetings were part of a 'track-II' mission involving the separatists as Sri Sri is considered to be close to the ruling BJP. Sri Sri visited Kashmir recently and met the Hurriyat leaders and discussed the situation there. Retired bureaucrat and chairman Kashmir Society who too is closely associated with some separatists has met some ministers in New Delhi. Reliable sources said the separatist leaders have told the government that they won't meet all party delegation but have been holding back channel talks with the government. Yasin Malik and his close aide Noor Muhammad Kalwal were on Tuesday shifted to JIC Humhama from Srinagar Central Jail. Top sources said Malik was shifted from the jail as part of a strategy as it was difficult for top police and civil officials to talk to him in the jail. Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, moderate separatist leader and chairman of his faction of Hurriyat Conference has been shifted to the Cheshma Shahi hut after being taken into custody on last Friday. During these days, sources said he has been treated as a guest there and various officials from security agencies met him there and held informal chat with them. Similarly, sources said the back door talks are also going with representative of the hardline Hurriyat led by Syed Ali Geelani. |
