| Nepotism, influence rules roost in Education Deptt | | | Early Times Report
Rajouri, Sept 1: Believe it or not if a person has a political background, muscle power or money, Education Department is at his/her service to provide him/her a place of choicest posting, sources said.
Sources within education department said, "Favour-istism, nepotism and influence and above all the alleged money power- the corruption still rules roost in education department and teachers deserving to be transferred from remote areas still are left behind while others allegedly have got their transfers of their choice i.e. at main townships."
In one such glaring example, sources said, "A headmaster who had Zero Percent result of 10th class examination during 2015-16 academic sessions in his school surprisingly has been promoted as Zonal Education Planning Officer (ZEPO) instead facing departmental action."
They said Mohd Qasim was the headmaster of High School Dungi under the jurisdiction of Dungi Education Zone during 2015-16 academic sessions.
"Out of fifty students appeared in the matriculation examination from this school none could clear the examination resulting in Zero percent result of the school," they said.
Even the people of the area resenting his performance had also held protest demonstration against the headmaster, while Zonal Education Officer and Chief Education Officer are alleging that the department was not sincere about the regular presence of the teaching staff and the headmaster was attached with the CEO office."
While leading the protesters Raj Kumar , sarpanch of Dungi had said that whenever Mohd Qasim , headmaster was asked about his frequent absence from the school, he always used to reply that he has attached with the CEO office and always remained occupied in assuagements allotted to him. Protesters also had demanded the Director School education to take stern action against the headmaster and other staff members.
"But instead taking any action against the staff members and the headmaster, he was promoted and made Zonal Education Planning Officer (ZEPO) in Kalakot Education Zone which is clear indication that how much the higher officials of the education department are sincere about uplifting the academic standard in the government schools" said well informed sources in education department |
