| Accused wanted in kidnapping, rape case arrested | | | Early Times Report
kathua, Sept 1: In a major success achieved by the Kathua Police, the police have arrested one accused who was wanted in two different FIRs in regard to kidnapping and rape charges. The accused was evading his arrest since last two months.
"Accused has been identified as Shafiq Wani s/o Amir hamza R/o Lehri Billawar of Kathua," police said. Police spokesperson said Police team of P/S Rajbagh headed by Inspr Ajay Jamwal SHO PS Rajbagh arrested one accused wanted in two different FIRs with kidnapping and rape charges.
Police said, "On specific input from its reliable sources about movement of accused, police team headed by SHO P/S Rajbagh conducted a raid at a road side Dhaba (eatery) near Chenab Textile Mills (CTM) Kathua where accused was hiding and working in dhaba as dish washer for the last ten days."
"Accused Shafiq Wani was wanted in case FIR no-141/16 u/s 366/376/342/109 RPC and case FIR no-185/16 u/s 380 RPC of P/S Rajbagh was evading arrest since 06/07/2016, police said.
Pertinent to mention here that accused brother had filed a Habeas corpus in High Court that accused was in an illegal confinement of persons of Rajbagh area. The operation was conducted under the supervision of DySP Deewakar Singh SDPO Border and overall supervision of SSP Kathua Neeva Jain. |
