Early Times Report

Srinagar, Sept 1: A youth was feared dead and scores wounded during daylong clashes in restive Kashmir on Thursday even as authorities re-enforced curfew in some parts of the Valley, officials and reports said.
A youth was feared drowned in Parimpora area of Srinagar when allegedly chased by the CRPF, the locals said.
The locals and family sources said that at least four youth jumped into river Jhelum to save themselves from the "paramilitary forces late in the afternoon following protests.
"Three of the four youths could manage reach the northern bank of Jhelum near under construction steel bridge in Parimpora area, but one of them is still missing," the locals said.
They identified the missing youth as Danish Sultan Haroon, son of Muhammad Sultan of New Colony Palpora, Noor Bagh.
A senior official told Early Times that restrictions would be in place across the Valley on Friday. "We have inputs of large scale violence so as mark of preventive measure restrictions will be imposed in major areas across the Valley, particularly in the congested old Srinagar," the official said. Meanwhile curfew was re-clamped in some areas of downtown here following large-scale violence, whereas around 400 persons were injured in the clashes across the Valley, report said.
Authorities had lifted curfew and restrictions from the entire Valley on Wednesday, August 31 after 53 days since the unrest started on July 8, in the wake of killing of militant commander Burhan Muzaffar Wani and his two associates.
Protest marches were carried out in different parts of Srinagar city. Clashes erupted in areas including Nowhatta, Khawaja Bazar and Khanyar.
In north Kashmir, curfew-like restrictions were imposed in Kaloosa locality of Bandipora in view of escalation in street protests for the past few days, police said.
Protests also erupted in Pakharpora, Mazhama, Sozheit, Magam and Kawoosa.
