chandigarh, Sept 4: "A run begins the moment you forget you are running". This is precisely the feeling every Chandigarhian at the "CII Jammu Marathon-Promo run" went home with. Ecstasy, bliss, elation, euphoria, exultation on every participants faces' may well capture the essence of the run!
Chandigarh-the city beautiful, witnessed the most natural flow of emotions of beautiful people through running. Chandigarhians' were seen hitting the road in great numbers and enjoying every bit of running. Feeling of freedom, liberation and gratitude was felt all across the run. Burning rubber in the midst of green lush, systematic bi-lanes, the ever beautiful Sukhna, clear blue sky and jubilant co-runners is the best way of celebrating a Sunday. Especially, when this also promotes a cause so noble!
This run will help highlight the issue of Orphans and underprivileged children and promoting a healthy lifestyle among Jammu residents as well as participants from all over North region. Tens of thousands of orphans are suffering from trauma and other stress related diseases including depression, sleeplessness and nausea due to the ongoing conflict in Jammu and Kashmir. This is evident from a survey conducted by a non-governmental child welfare organization last year. The survey conducted by Save the children has found the presence of at least 2,14,000 orphans in the state but the activists claim the figure is much higher. |
