jammu, Sept 4: T R Kalra, the former Director General of Police and the first IPS officer of J&K breathed his last today after prolonged illness. He is survived by his wife Veena kalra and two sons, Ranjit and Iqbal kalra. An IPS of the 62 batch, TR kalra served J&K police at various important positions till his superannuation in 1993. Rich tributes were paid to the departed soul at police head quarters in Srinagar, where DGP K. Rajendra said that Kalra inspired many young officers with his commitment and honesty and under his leadership, J&K police achieved many significant feats. He expressed his deep solidarity with the bereaved family. He was joined by other senior officers of the state police . Meanwhile, He was cremated with full state honours at Chhani Himmat cremation ground. Those present on the occasion included former DGPs MM Khajuria, Kuldip Khuda, Vice Chancellor Jammu university Prof. R D Sharma, IGP Shoukat Wattali, IGP Jammu Danesh Rana, SSP Jammu, DC Jammu, former Minister Raman Bhalla, besides several known faces from the media, business and sports fraternity. Wreath was laid on behalf of the DGP J&K Police, K. Rajendra. Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and Advisor Prof. Amitabh Mattoo also condoled the demise of former DGP. |
