'I will speak about permanent solution at an appropriate time': Karan Singh | Ending J&K conflict | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Sept 26: Congress veteran and Member of Rajya Sabha Karan Singh on September 25 again said that he had a permanent solution of the J&K problem but he would talk about it an appropriate time. "We will support the Government of India in their decision to counter Pakistan for the unity and integrity of the country. As far permanent solution of J&K, I will not disclose any thing. I will tell you at an appropriate time," he said in Jammu. "My father Maharaja Hari Singh was the Maharaja of not only Jammu but also of Kashmir and Ladakh," he also said. It was not the first occasion that Karan Singh claimed that he had a permanent solution to the J&K problem. He has repeatedly said so since January 1990, when secessionist violence gripped the Valley and separatists demanded freedom from India. He said so in the Parliament and outside the Parliament. The situation in Kashmir is very critical now. Critical all the more because it has turned extremely violent with many Kashmiri youth taking part in the agitation and taking recourse to violence. But more than that, those involved in the rebellion have made it loud and clear that they are not fighting for any political concession but for something "bigger". Even major political players in Kashmir like Omar Abdullah have explained the nature of the ongoing unrest in the Valley. That the ongoing unrest in the Valley has also impact the nationalist psyche of Jammu and Ladakh can be seen from the fact that both Jammu and Ladakh repeatedly declared that they would not allow Kashmiri leadership to impose its will on them and that they would not accept any solution that doesn't respect their pro-India sentiments. This is the most appropriate time for Karan Singh to reveal what he calls "a permanent solution to the Jammu and Kashmir problem". Nation would appreciate if he does so. Let's see if he considers the present moment "appropriate moment or not".
