Fast Track Recruitment process a 'hoax', referred posts yet to be filled | More than 100 posts of BDOs, Tehsildars vacant across JK | | Jehangir Rashid
Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Sept 26: Like the previous regimes the present dispensation of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) in the state has failed to appoint people in government departments in due course of time. Not to talk of the lower staff posts of top notch officials are also lying vacant. Although hundreds of posts have been referred to recruitment agencies there has been no headway vis-à-vis appointment of people on such posts. The fast track recruitment has remained a claim so far and the process has remained to papers only. The delay in recruitment process has led to disillusionment among the youth of the state. Official sources said that 79 posts of Block Development Officer (BDO) were referred to General Administration Department (GAD) by the Public Service Commission (PSC), but the recruitment process was not followed up to this moment of time. The sources said that 48 posts of Tehsildar were also referred to GAD by PSC for the subsequent appointment but the same was also not done. "Three hundred and four (304) posts of Patwari are lying vacant across the state. In the Junior Assistant category 504 posts are lying vacant. Eight posts of stenographer are lying vacant in the various government departments while as 150 posts of driver are lying vacant as well in the departments," said sources. Sources said all these posts were referred to Services Selection Board (SSB) on August 14, 2015 and since then the posts have not been filled. More than one year have passed since the referral of these posts has taken place, but till date no headway has been made with regard to appointment process. The non-filling of these posts has adversely affected the working of the government departments. "In Jammu district 56 posts of Patwari are lying vacant followed by Udhampur where 35 posts of Patwari are lying vacant. In the Doda district 32 posts of Patwari are lying vacant while as 31 posts of Patwari are lying in Budgam district. In Rajouri district 25 posts of Patwari are lying vacant with 21 posts of Patwari are lying vacant in Kathua district," said sources. In the Poonch district 15 posts of Patwari are lying vacant with 13 posts of Patwari lying vacant in the Bandipora district. In the Reasi district 12 posts of Patwari are lying vacant with nine posts of Patwari are lying vacant in Kulgam district. Eight posts of Patwari are lying vacant in Kishtwar district with seven posts of Patwari lying vacant in Ramban district, sources said. Sources said that six posts of Patwari are lying vacant in Srinagar and Pulwama districts with five posts of Patwari lying vacant in Baramulla district. Three posts of Patwari are lying vacant in Kupwara and Shopian districts. Two posts of Patwari are lying vacant in Baramulla district. Sources said that failure of the state government to fill up the posts of Patwari across the state has led to tremendous delay in demarcation of land and other related processes. They said that people in general suffer due to the absence of Patwaris in their areas since the Patwari is assigned with many tasks that are closely related with common masses. |
