Tricolor desecration on ID goes un-punished | What action has been taken by JK Govt? | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Sept 26: While Kashmir unrest gets the maximum attention; some vital issues have been ignored. The authorities even forgot to take action against the persons responsible for desecration of the national flag on Independence day. The Tricolor fell down at Bakshi Stadium during the Independence Day parade when the Chief Minister pulled the ropes to unfurl it. The Chief Minister, however, picked up the flag quickly and held it in his hands while the band played the national anthem. The Chief Minister was quick to order and enquiry into the incident. However, to this day responsibility for the `fiasco' has not been fixed to this day. Reports about a `cold war' between the police and the civil; administration hogged the newspaper headlines a few days before the ID Parade. Informed sources had informed about a fued between two groups of officials well in time but nothing was done to address the issue. Sources also hinted at a war of ego between some senior officials of police and civil administration. "It seems to be a ego problem between the IPS and Sufarishi KAS officials as a result of which the administration is being taken hostage," said an insider. Since 1947, the flag has been desecrated in such a way for the first time. The patriots have demanded stern action against the erring officials. "Let the Kashmir unrest not overshadow the desecration of national flag," said a university teacher. |
