Daily wagers on strike, health services affected | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Sept 26: Health services in Government Medical College and its associated hospitals have been paralysed as daily wagers continued with their strike, which entered 12th day on Monday. A large number of protesters under the banner of All Medical (Mechanical) Workers Union assembled at Chest Disease Hospital and raised slogans in favour of their demands. They said that due to indefinite strike the functioning of Super Specialty Hospital and Government Medical College (GMC) have been completely affected where many centres are completely shut down for the last 12 days but no one comes to listen to their demands. The President of the Union Puneet Sharma said that the Head of the Hospital administration shall be responsible for any loss, damage to the sophisticated machinery. He said that the Department has forced them to go on strike as notice in advance was given to the authorities listing to their demands which included release of 30 months pending wages and to introduce regularization policy. He threatened that unless their demands are not met and written order issued, the strike will continue. They demanded regularisation and payment of pending 30 months wages. Others spoke on the occasion were Koushal Sharma, Rahul, Nikhol Sharma and Rakesh Mehra and Arjun. |
