Pak violates ceasefire in Nowshera sector again, gets appropriate response | | | Early Times Report
rajouri, Oct 18: Pakistan resorted to unprovoked firing with 82 mm mortar shells and automatic weapons in four sub sectors in Nowshera sector in Rajouri district second time within 24 hours on the intervening night of October 17 & 18. On October 16 Pakistan army had targeted NCP, Kanchind other posts in Lam -Laroka area between 4 am and 7 am. No loss to life or property was reported. In the evening at about 5 pm Pakistan sharp shooters hit Sudir Kumar of 6 Rajput on a forward post in Tarkundi area under Mendhar police station wherein he attained martyrdom on the spot before he could be shifted to nearby army medical centre. On the intervening night of October 17 & 18 Pakistan Army again targeted forward Indian posts in Lam, Laroka, Sarya and Jhangar sub sectors in Nowshera sector. The heavy firing from automatic weapons and mortar shelling started at about 10 pm and continued till 2 am. No loss to life or property however was reported from these areas. According to Lt. Col Manish Mehta, defence spokesman, Jammu, Pakistan resorted to unprovoked cease fire violation in Nowshera sector from8.30 pm to 1.30 am on the intervening night of October 17 & 18 with automatic weapons and 82 mm mortars. "The firing was responded appropriately by our troops and no loss to life and property has been reported" said Lt Col Mehta. Divisional Commissioner, Jammu directed Deputy Commissioner Rajouri to evacuate people from affected areas in case of heavy shelling from across the LoC. On the direction from Deputy Commissioner, Rajouri, to Harabnsh Lal Sharma, SDM , Nowshera visited Laroka , Pukhrni, Lam, Jhangar, Khamba. "Pakistan's heavy firing and mortar shelling was aimed at forward posts and army infrastructure. No civilian area was targeted. So there was no need to shift the people, " said the SDM. SDM has also visited Laroka health centre and directed the BMO, Nowshera either to repair the stranded ambulance or provide new one so that it may be used during any emergency. He also directed the in-charge of the centre to seek necessary emergency and other medicines from the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) to meet any emergency . |
