Appointment of VCs of 2 cluster universities likely on Oct 21 10/18/2016 10:50:01 PM Akshay Azad Early Times Report Jammu, Oct 18: The appointment of two Vice-Chancellors of two cluster universities being developed under Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA), is likely to be made on October 21. Sources in Higher Education department informed Early Times that the 21 members' State Higher Education Council's (SHEC) meeting is scheduled to be held on October 21 October and it will be chaired by Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti. According to sources, the appointment of two VCs and other staff for two cluster universities-cluster university of Jammu and cluster university of Kashmir-is part of the agenda items finalized for the scheduled meeting. Moreover, courses to be offered in the cluster universities will also be discussed in the meeting. The appointment of Director RUSA as member of the SHEC is also part of agenda. Pertinently, presently Director RUSA, Tariq Ahmed Zargar, is not a member of the SHEC, as when the SHEC was constituted, the Director was not appointed. As per the rulebook, the Director must be a member of the SHEC. The appointment of Principal/Nodal Officer of Engineering Colleges Safapora and Engineering College Kathua are also part of the agenda. Other items of the agenda of the meeting are establishment of paramedical institute in South Campus of Kashmir University, establishment of Institute of Innovation Techno Entrepreneurship Development at North Campus and South Campus of Kashmir University. Apart from Chairman and Vice Chairman, the Council comprises members including Chief Secretary and Administrative Secretaries of Finance, Planning and Development Department. Administrative Secretary Higher Education is the member secretary of the Council under RUSA while Vice-Chancellors of Jammu University, Kashmir University, BGSBU, Islamic University Awantipora, SMVDU, Central University Kashmir, Central University Jammu, Nodal Principal of colleges, Director NIT Srinagar and Director Colleges are among the other members of SHEC.   Share This News with Your Friends on Social Network     Comment on this Story
