Craving for badges, DySPs wear ranks of SSP | Hulchul in Police | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Oct 18: In a blatant violation of the rules, many Deputy Superintendents of Police (DySPs) who have been placed as in-charge Superintendents of Police on stop gap basis vide order no 270 of 2013 dated 04-07-2013 and till date have not been confirmed are wearing badges of Senior Superintendents of Police (SSP). The police rule under SRO 494 dated 19-10-1971 issued by Home Departmnet as well as subsequent circular issued by the Police Headquarters vide order no. Gz/Badges/2005/PHQ/2014 dated 07-07-2014 through present Director General of Police (DGP) clearly imparts directions not to wear the ranks for which the officer is not entitled. It is astonishing that the present Selection Grade DSPs who were placed as in-charge Superintendents only with charge allowance on stop gap arrangement for period six months or clearance by Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) even without having confirmed as SPs, have put on the ranks of SSPs. Even more funny is that the seniors police officers in various districts and zones have piped the ranks of SSP to the DSP without having confirmed whether these officers have even been confirmed as SPs or not. A retire police officer while talking to Early Times said that the act is definitely going to encourage indiscipline in the belt force. Quoting an instance the officer said that there are so many inspectors who have been promoted as DSPs in own pay grade (OPG) and if completed 15 years of service as DSPs they would they be entitled to wear rank of SPs. Director General of Police (DGP) while talking to Early Times said that there are clear cut directions to wear ranks for which they are entitled. "If there is any violation it would be dealt with strictly," he said.
