| NSF holds protest against VC for regularizing 3 project officers against 2 posts | | 'CM's intervention sought as VC exploiting his position | |  Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 18: : National Secular Forum (NSF) on Tuesday staged a noisy protest demonstration against University authorities to expose the authoritarian rule and misdeeds of Jammu University's Vice Chancellor Prof Ramji Dass Sharma and urged the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, who is the Pro-Chancellor of the varsity, for ordering a high-level inquiry into the regularization of three project officers against 2 posts.
Addressing a gathering here today, NSF Vice-President Papinder Singh alleged that Prof Ramji Dass Sharma was ruling the campus like a dictator and handing over punishment and snubbing to the innocent people while those who found involved in wrong-doings were being protected by the VC and his coteries.
Papinder Singh criticized the working of Jammu University Vice-Chancellor and also showed theit resentment against Jammu University authorities for putting each and every effort for absorbing their kiths and kins in the campus and there is no check accountability in functioning of University of Jammu.
He said that three project officers were appointed in the Centre for Continuing Education and Extension (now Department of Lifelong Learning) on 'contract' basis against the two advertised posts in February 2008. All the three Project Officers were appointed on a consolidated salary of Rs 15000 per month. "They were appointed on 'contract' basis against the two sanctioned posts.
Documents further revealed that after two years of service, serial no 1 and serial no 2 approached High Court of J&K and filed a writ petition (SWP) for their permanent absorption. However, then Registrar, University of Jammu rejected their claim and decided to contest the case, he added.
Serial no 3 had also approach the court with no relief but his representation for permanent absorption was sympathetically considered in the JU 'Syndicate' vide Item no. 110.65, and it was resolved that Serial no 3 be permanently absorbed against the available post of Programme Officer (now designated as Assistant Professor) on the same analogy and as has already been approved in the case of serial no 1 and serial no 2 on the same terms and conditions, in the Department of Lifelong Learning.
Criticizing the violation of rules and norms of blue-eyes of Vice Chancellor, NSF Vice-president said that VC has adjusted his blue eyes as Assistant Professor in DLL, for which no advertisement has been published while no interview is conducted while a candidate of DLL has already selected in total violation of set norms", He said.
He demanded a high enquiry in these matters of high level corruption and warns Administration JU to legalize all the functions without dealing of corruption otherwise a national Secular Forum campaign will start to throw out the corrupt officials responsible for all corruptions and irregularities in the appointments of Assistant Professor in DLL.
NSF demanded CM to intervene in the matter and take some strict actions to save the students and unemployed youth from being ignored and deprived from the fundamental rights of equality and opportunity. |
