Open VC lodge, halls for border displaced JU students-NSF appeals to Governor

Early Times Report

Jammu, Nov 2: Expressing grief over migration triggered from border area with most of the students of Jammu University getting displaced, National Secular Forum appealed Governor of the State, who happens to be Chancellor of Jammu University, to direct Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu to come forward to the rescue of migrant students studying in the campus accommodating them in available premises of the University.
This was stated by Vikas Sharma, State President, NSF in a press conference today in which he flayed the hopeless administration of the university which does not feel the pinch of difficulties and grievances of its own students who are on the regular roll in the campus. He stated that there should be a spontaneous action of the university authority to express solidarity with the grieved migrant students instead of NGOs knocking the doors of higher authorities to awake university administration to protect the interests of its own students who are in a thick soup due to disturbances in the border areas. Coming down heavily on JU VC Prof. R.D.Sharma for neglecting the pathetic plight of border displaced regular students of the university, NSF appealed the Chancellor, N.N.Vohra to order opening of VC lodge and other halls like Gymnasium Hall to provide transitory shelter to such students. Lambasting the arrogance and inconsiderate style of Prof Sharma, Dr. Vikas Sharma said that it is very disheartening to see that specious buildings and halls are lying empty and unused for pretty long time like Lodge of Vice Chancellor, but VC, being a local officer, does not have any fellow feelings and a sense of belonging for his own students of the Jammu areas who are in dire need of some help at this crucial juncture.
Vikas strongly appealed the Governor N.N.Vohra to throw open these buildings for the shelter of regular students of border areas and make required arrangements for their food and stay so that their studies and academic career do not suffer despite emotional and mental agony to them due to Pak shelling in their respective villages adjacent to International Border and Line of Control. He further added that NSF is also ready to provide volunteers for this purpose if good sense prevails upon the authorities of the University for taking such a noble step to help regular JU students.
While binding up press conference, Vikas Sharma deeply condoled the demise of many border people and jawans of security forces who have lost their precious lives in war like situation and prayed for peace to the departed souls.
