DC issue notice, directs banks, interested parties to refrain | 600 Kanals 'Nandni VVIP' Land deal goes public | | Syed Junaid Hashmi Early Times Report JAMMU, Nov 2: Confirming the murky land deal unveiled by Early Times, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Jammu Simrandeep Singh issued a public notice directing the financial institutions, government departments and interested parties to refrain from engaging with then said land. According to the notice issued vide no. ADC/Adm/PS/16-17/956-57, dated 01-11-2016; all the financial institutions , banks, government departments and interested parties have been informed that an inquiry is pending in the office of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Jammu Simrandeep Singh in connection with the lease deed of land and hence, they should not engage in any transaction related to this disputed piece of land. The notice explicitly states that land deed executed in favour of M/S RNG and Associates of land measuring 589 Kanals falling under Khasra no.794/18 min, 19, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27 and 29 (min) situated at Village Janakha, near Nandni Tunnel in Dansal Tehsil of Jammu District is being inquired into and hence, no one should engage in any kind of deal over this piece of land. The notice was issued a day after Early Times reported that a Patwari had turned whistleblower and blown the lid of the murky 589 Kanals of land deal. Sources said that the reports of land deal have also reached to the ears of Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation Syed Basharat Bukhari. They added that the minister has taken strong note of the involvement of the revenue officials in this land deal. Sources further said that the minister has sought detailed report from the officers on the ground and asked them not to leave anything out while furnishing the same. They further said that the minister was surprised to know the manner in which the title of the land had been changed. Sources disclosed that it is also being probed, as to how the parties got the registry done on September 28 on the basis of the documents which were issued by the revenue department on September 29. They added that the issue has also been brought in the notice of Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti who has already issued instructions for sparing none involved in this alleged murky land deal in Nandni area of Jammu City. It needs to be stressed here that a well-known trust carried out an alleged illegal act by leasing out state land measuring 589 kanals comprising of Khasra no. 794/18, 19, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27 and 29 (min) situated at village Janakha near Nandni Tunnel in Tehsil Dansal and District Jammu to M/S RNG and Associates. In order to facilitate this unlawful transaction, undue favour was allegedly made by attesting intiqal in favour of the high profile trust on September 20, 2016. Amid this development, it is surprising to note that neither the State Vigilance Commission (SVC) nor the state Accountability Commission (SAC) and not even Crime Branch of Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) has taken cognizance of this murky deal despite Deputy Commissioner (DC) Jammu confirming the same by issuing a public notice. It has been an established practice that these three institutions usually take extraordinary interest in lodging suo-motto FIRs and ordering inquiries. Observers maintain that they should by now swung into action since the land deal involves more than Rs. 25 crore but they are keeping themselves away from this land deal which involves an influential politician and a big business house. "We expect Chief Minister to take serious note of this issue and take immediate action against the politician involved in this land deal. She has to set an example for others to follow," said an official. |
