VO wants action against JU teacher, Guv Secretariat, GAD bury file | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Nov 2: Overlooking the recommendations of the Vigilance Organization (VO) against Jammu University professor, Falendra Kumar Sudan for misusing official position, the Governor's Secretariat and General Administration Department (GAD) allegedly put the file under carpet. According to information obtained through RTI, the VO recommended action against Prof Sudan, HoD Economics, on June 9 this year. "Five months since the VO's recommendations, the GAD and Governor's Secretariat have virtually sat on the file," said Dr Rajni Sharma, who had filed a complaint before Chief Vigilance Commissioner against Prof Sudan for allegedly threatening and harassing her. Dr Rajni said that during the course of investigation it was established that Prof Sudan and Prof. Jasbir Singh (VC's nominee) played a biased role during appointment of a contractual lecturer at Udhampur Campus. She said that inquiry conducted by the VO established that despite being experienced and only PhD candidate for the post of contractual lecturer, she had been awarded only two marks by VC's nominee Prof Jasbir Singh and four marks by Prof Sudan in both the assessment of domain knowledge and teaching skills as well as in interview performance. "As such, on the strength of evidence and circumstances which surfaces during the probe, it is recommended that appropriate measures need to be taken to undo brazen abuse of power by Prof Falendra Kumar Sudan to settle his personal score," reads IGP VO's letter. "On 8 November 2016 I am appearing in the interview for lecturer in Economics in Udhampur Campus and Law School (University of Jammu), and according to your notification 13, No. DAA/16/4444-58 dated 20/10/2016, the HoD of the Department of Economics is the interview Committee member and till date Prof Sudan is the HOD of Economics Department. As you know, I have registered lot of complaints against him in many organizations and also approached the High court regarding the corruption case filed in 2007. It is therefore requested not to include Prof. Sudan in the interview panel", Dr Rajni said in her application to the VC. |
