DUP hold protest against shifting of ARTO office, demands rollback 11/19/2016 10:08:41 PM Rajesh Tandon Early Times Report Poonch, Nov 19: Office of the Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) has been shifted to hilly area without any information some days before, which has caused tensions among the public. Driver Union Pooch (DUP) in this regard today held a massive protest against ARTO Poonch, who has shifted the office to hilly area without any reasons. DUP expressed their resentment over the grimmest attitude of the officer with the locals especially drivers. They at bus stand Poonch raised slogans against ARTO and transport department and said due to unknown reasons, the officer is disturbing the poor society. They said the office from town area was ripper than hilly area , why he shifted it in that area should be investigated. They allegedly said that the office was very near to the police station Poonch, where the ways of corruption were dyke. They said the office has been shifted by officer for corruption only which is condemnable. They warned that if the office should not be shifted back to town area before Monday, DUP will hold a massive protest and block roads on Tuesday. ARTO Jahangir Khan in this regard said the owner of the old office issued legal notice to leave the office which was compulsory to be shifted. He further said there was no accommodation inside the town area so the office has deployed in hilly area. DUP allegedly said there were many suitable houses inside the city where office may be shifted, why ARTO shifted in hilly area must be investigated.
