Bukhari mends fences with Mehbooba | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 19: Former cabinet minister Altaf Bukhari has apparently mend fences with Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti. Sources said Bukhari has decided to give unqualified support to the CM, and the gesture has been acknowledged by the latter. On Friday, when Bukhari appealed the CM to restore the internet facility in the Valley, the government decided to so on the same evening. "The people are being advised to make payment by cards while it can be done only when the net is available…I believe it must have skipped the attention of the CM, otherwise she would have responded immediately to it," Bukhari had said. On Saturday, the government revoked the order for the suspension of the mobile internet connectivity, though it has been in the initial phase limited to the post-paid connections. "It can't be mere coincidence that the day Bukhari issues the statement and the more importantly the same is done by the government. It speaks much more that what meets the eyes and also comes a day after the Lok Sabha speaker had accepted the resignation of the Karra. So all when all things are jotted down in a line, it speaks about the important department," said a senior PDP leader. Bukhari was sacked as a minister when Mehbooba assumed office as the CM. He was one of the most influential cabinet ministers when Mufti Sayeed was CM. "Bukhari tried to undermine the authority of the CM. He had even projected himself as the CM candidate after the death of the Mufti Sayeed. It was his biggest political blunder. And now after living about one-year in political oblivion, he has decided to accept Mehbooba as unquestionable leader of the party and his statement and quick response of the government suggest that things have been settled down," said the leader. Sources said Bukhari may be eying for a cabinet berth, but that is not going to happen soon. |
