Street lights on during day time, public suffers due to power cuts 11/19/2016 10:42:16 PM Sushil Dutta Early Times Report Rajouri, Nov 19: On the one hand general public is suffering due to unscheduled power cuts and on the other hand street lights of municipal committee are giving lights even during the day time. On Monday street lights installed by Municipal Committee in many locations in city were seen lit even during the day time. Some people expressing their great resentment told that these street lights are never put off even during the day time. Street lights work on 24x7 pattern thus using huge amount of electricity even when there is no need of it. Unscheduled power cuts in this scorching summer heat is also making people's lives miserable, but the concerned department is least bothered to keep a check on unscheduled power cuts. If the street lights of municipal committee are put on off mode during the day time, it may save large quantity of electricity and this saved electricity can be used to minimize the unscheduled power cuts. Neither Municipal Committee nor the power development department is working to keep a check on street lights during day time and stop unscheduled power cuts to give public some relief in scorching summer heat.
