Early Times Report Rajouri , Dec 4: Panic on Saturday gripped certain Rajouri areas, including parts of Panj Peer, following inputs about the presence of suspects near an army hospital and a unit. Soon after the news spread, army school was closed and gates of army units were locked. Those, running their shops in the vicinity of army units and army school, were also asked to close down their business establishments. Parents also made frantic calls to the authorities about the safety of their wards studying in private institutions as personnel of Special Operation Group of police rushed to the area. Later, army personnel apprehended a person moving near the army supply unit and took him to their senior officers. He was today handed over to Rajouri police for further investigation. Police sources said after the man's medical examination, it was established that he was a mentally challenged person, hailing from Kalakot, Rajouri. He was identified as Ikhlaq, son of Mohammad Bashir of Sialsui. He was later handed over to his family members. Meanwhile, movement of a group of 2-3 militants has been reported from higher reaches of Darhal. Sources said since the area was situated in the vicinity of highly militancy infested Shopian district of Kashmir, the possibility of some of them having crossed over to this side was not ruled out. |
