Influential BLW transferred with post at Minister's behest, rules trashed | Auron Ko Nasihat, khud miyan fazeehat! | | Early Times Report
Rajouri, Dec 4: Breaking all records of nepotism in transfers, the government has transferred an influential Block Level Worker (BLW) to his choice posting, fourth time in nine months. Not only this, to prevent any further outcry over his posting, this time the influential BLW has been transferred along with his post by a Minister wielding influence in the Rural Development Department. Official sources said the transfer is the worst case of favoritism, where the Minister is preaching something he doesn't practice himself. Sources said from the Commissioner Secretary Rural Development to its Director, all senior officials were hesitant to transfer the BLW along with post from one area to another as it was against the norms. "Also the remote place from where this BLW was being shifted is already running short of workforce. Though we objected, Mantri ji didn't listen to us and finally we had to go by his despotic orders," said a senior official. The official said soon after getting this influential BLW transferred from Kalakote to Sunderbani, the Minister called a meeting in the Secretariat seeking details of corrupt officials. "By calling a meeting to preach honesty, soon after getting an influential BLW transferred for the fourth time, he made a mockery of the system, but then we were helpless and silently listened to his sermons on honesty," the officials said. Just a fortnight back, prompted by a story carried by Early Times exposing "illegal attachment of the BLW to his choice of posting", the Minister had got the attachment orders revoked. That, however, proved eyewash. The Minister finally got the BLW transferred to the posting of choice along with the post. A senior official in the Rural Development while admitting the illegal transfer said the department was helpless. "From Commissioner Secretary to Director all directed us to issue the orders as Mantri Ji was interested in this, how could we avoid doing so?" the officials said. Despite repeated attempts the Minister could not be contacted for comments. |
