Early Times Report
Kishtwar, Dec 4: Two vehicles parked inside the R&B building complex on Om Mehta Road here were burnt in a fire that broke out today. Official sources said a security guard posted in nearby police residential quarters noticed smoke coming out of the heaps of garbage and raised an alarm. Soon thereafter, fire tenders were pressed into service. Senior police officers also rushed to the spot. While the fire burnt two vehicles, including a junk truck, flames were stopped from spreading to the nearby R&B store and other government buildings. The door of the store was, however, damaged in the fire. Minister of state for R&B, Sunil Kumar Sharma and some senior R&B officials also reached the spot after some time. Sources said a major tragedy was, however, averted with the timely action of firemen. Had there been a delay, the flames could have engulfed the store and nearby government buildings, the sources added. The cause of fire was stated to be accidental by police. |
