Night temp up in Kashmir, dry weather predicted for next week

Srinagar, Dec 4: There was a slight increase in the night temperature at most places in Kashmir division today, with the MeT Department predicting continuous dry weather in the state over the week ahead.
Srinagar, the summer capital of the state, recorded the minimum temperature of minus 2.1 degrees Celsius - same as that of the previous night, an official of the Meteorological Department here said.
He said the famous ski-resort of Gulmarg in north Kashmir registered the low of minus 1.2 degrees Celsius, slightly up from the previous night's minus 1.4 degrees Celsius.
Pahalgam hill resort in south Kashmir recorded the low of minus 4.3 degrees Celsius compared to minus 4.4 degrees Celsius yesterday, the official said.
He said Kupwara, in north Kashmir, registered the low of minus 3.3 degrees Celsius while the minimum in Kokernag town in south settled at minus 0.4 degree Celsius.
The official said Qazigund - the gateway town to Kashmir Valley in south - recorded the low of minus 2.0 degrees Celsius against yesterday's minus 2.4 degrees Celsius.
The minimum temperature in Leh registered an increase of nearly two degrees from minus 9.6 degrees Celsius yesterday to settle at minus 7.8 degrees Celsius, the official said.
He said Leh was the coldest recorded place in the state. The official said the nearby Kargil town recorded the minimum temperature of minus 5.5 degrees Celsius - up from the previous night's minus 6.6 degrees Celsius.
The Meteorological Department has forecast dry weather in the state over the week ahead, with possibility of hazy sky.
