Bar Kathua stages protest against Dy CM, demands withdrawal of cases | | | Early Times Report Kathua, Dec 9: Bar Association Kathua today continued its pen down strike on second consecutive days at Kathua and Hiranagar Courts. Today the members came on road against Dy Chief minister Nirmal Singh and alleged him to victimize advocates community and used the Bar association for their political benefits. The protesters burnt effigy of Dy CM and shouted slogan BJP down down, Nirmal down down'. The members alleged on him to withdraw criminal cases against stone pelters in Kashmir but cases in Jammu province filed in 2013 during unrest against particular community at Kishtwar . Arvind Gupta, President Bar Association Kathua appraised that Bar association supported BJP- Vishav Hindu Parishad's bandh call on August 2013 in which curfew was imposed in District Kathua too. Meanwhile, few advocates approached Asstt labour court for legal purposes during relaxation in curfew but an SI level Police officer Ajay Kumar on Mukherjee chowk ordered for lathicharge and beat team of advocates badly. Later on police filed a case against advocates and submitted challan in court few days back. The president informed that BJP-PDP could withdraw cases against stone -pelters and victimized those who extended support to their bandh call. He threatened that this discriminatory attitude would not be tolerated and strike will continue in entire Jammu province if the case against advocates would not be withdrawn. Rajinder Sharma, Bar Association Members said," CPO, SSP and SHO gave fire to the case resulting paralyzing court's proceeding in second day which will be continue till withdraw of cases. The members discard discriminatory attitude of state government. The court's proceeding was suspended in 2nd day at Kathua and Hiranagar wherein people like CD Gupta who came from far-flung areas for appearing in court had to go back with empty hands. |
