Early Times Report srinagar, Dec 9: A tainted officer has been assigned a work order of above Rs 10 crore in one of the prestigious public sector undertakings. As per reliable sources, the then General Manger SICOP was elevated out of turn as MD of JK Cements by the then Minister of State for Industries and Commerce, surpassing all norms. After one and a half year, the said officer was found not performing properly and the corporation had a nosedive in so far as overall progress was concerned. During his tenure as in-charge MD, JK Cements, many cases about his malpractices came to the fore. Later, the government declared him a non-performer, demoted him back as General Manager SICOP. Now, as per the sources, it is reported that despite being declared as a non-performer, the said official was designated as Director Projects and was given the construction above Rs 10 crores to be handled by him. This was exclusively by the orders of Managing Director SICOP. "It is surprising that once declared tainted and non-performer by the government, the officer has been assigned such an important work," said an insider. It is reported that such job is being done at exhibition ground Jammu without any support of JEs, AEEs and Executive Engineers. Sources said that as per the R&B guidelines, the work has to be monitored by a team of engineers from JE to SEs. It is further reported that the construction work, singularly handled by the said officer, is going at a very slow pace and may not meet the deadline. |
