BJP high command to scan performance of JK ministers | | | Ishtiyaq Ahmad Early Times Report
Srinagar, Dec 9: With the BJP's national general secretary, Ram Madhav, getting disturbing feedback about the functioning and style of party ministers in the coalition government in J&K, it has been learnt that the party high command has taken a strong note of it and is reviewing performance of the BJP ministers. Sources told Early Times that Madhav, who was in Jammu on Tuesday and Wednesday, was asked by the high command to visit the state and seek a feedback from the party workers and other functionaries on the functioning of the coalition government and performance of party ministers. After receiving feedback from Madhav, the party chief Amit Shah is reviewing the performance of all BJP ministers, said sources. They said the party high command believes that people of Jammu had reposed their trust in the party and voted enmass in favour of it, so it is the duty of the party leaders especially the party ministers to ensure there is no breach in the trust. Amit Shah, according to sources, has asked the senior BJP leaders to visit the state from time to time and seek a feedback on the functioning of the coalition government and performance of his party ministers. Sources said Shah will soon convene a high level meeting wherein the progress on implementation of the Common Minimum Programme between the ruling coalition partners, level of performance of ministers and some organizational issues will be discussed in detail. During the meeting, sources informed Early Times that Shah will ask the JK party men to stick to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's agenda of development, which should not derail at any cost. Sources said that upset over the discouraging feedback from party leaders and workers about performance of BJP ministers in the state, Madhav had told the party high command that it was not a healthy sign that even party workers were not satisfied with them. Madhav was informed that the departments headed by BJP ministers in the state were not doing well and their functioning was not satisfactory. Party insiders say the demand was growing to hand out punishments to those leaders who are not performing well. Though no one in the party has confirmed such demand, party sources say the sentiment has been conveyed to Madhav in his Jammu visit. Sources said that party high command is learnt to have made it clear that interests of Jammu should be on priority while ensuring that there may be no discrimination with any region. |
