JAMMU, Dec 9: A lady professor of Government College of Education, Canal Road, here has been apprehended by the vigilance organisation (VO) in an alleged corruption case. Ashu Jolly, assistant professor in government college of education, is alleged to have demanded a bribe of Rs 10,000 from a female student for approving her M Ed synopsis, according to VO sources. The student today approached VO with a complaint, alleging therein that Jolly had demanded from her Rs 10,000 in two installments of Rs 5,000 each as illegal gratification from her for approving her M Ed synopsis. She alleged that she was going to pay Rs 5,000 to the professor under compelling circumstances. Accordingly, a VO team was constituted to lay the trap. Sources said Jolly was caught red handed while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000 from the complainant in presence of independent witnesses. She had been booked under relevant sections of law and further investigation in the case was in progress, sources said. |
